WELCOME TO MIDDIES SWIMMING

The Middies Swim Team, an age-group program for swimmers six years and older, is a year-round United States Swimming   co-ed team run out of the Metropolitan Zone. The Middies follow the meets and time standards of these two governing bodies which are geared toward the inclusion and improvement of all swimmers.

A program with nearly thirty years of producing nationally ranked swimmers, the Middies have recently taken on a new face. While continuing the long standing tradition of striving for excellence, the program insures that all swimmers are taught the fundamentals of swimming as well as healthy competition.

The characteristics of: self discipline, goal setting, self motivation, honesty, self-confidence, team camaraderie, academic structure and strength, physical fitness and development, and friends - all gained from the "swimming experience" are valuable tools our swimmers take with them for life.

Quote of the Day

“You were not born a winner, and you were not born a loser. You are what you make yourself be. “ (Lou Holtz)

The qualifiers for this years SunKissed Invitational and all pertinent information has been posted at the meets page. This list will be updated after every meet through the first two weeks of March.

We will be posting hotel and travel information very soon so that all families can make the proper plans to attend this meet.

It was by far the most fun and rewarding meet last season and with the list of swimmers that have already qualified this year we are looking forward to an even better showing in 2010.

To all swimmers looking at the Zone Qualifers, Junior Olympics and Sunkissed Invitational meets, please read the following.

1. Only swimmers who can and will attend the actual Zone Meet in Rochester April 1-3 are allowed to participate in ZQ’s. As this is the week immediately following the Sunkissed meet and they are both travel meets which will require days off from school, we do not recommend any swimmers looking to participate in both.

2. The Sunkissed Invitational is our primary team event for all 11 and over swimmers every year. For swimmers who qualify for both Junior Olympics and the Sunkissed Meet, we encourage you all to try and make the weekend in North Carolina your top priority. If attending Sunkissed, you may choose certain events or days at JO’s, but it is ill-advised to swim two meets back to back and expect to excel at both. Coach Dorsey will start discussing this with individual swimmers over the next month or so.

The Championship run will begin in February and all swimmers will travel different routes depending upon the time standards they achieve. All standards are on the meets page of the web site and the qualifiers for these meets will be updated after every meet during January.
