MIDDIES SWIM TEAM LEVELS
BRONZE TEAM: This group is for young swimmers who are looking to begin their competitive swimming. Coaches will spend time both in and out of the water introducing and developing the four strokes as well as starts and turns. Swimmers are encouraged to attend three practices per week.
SILVER TEAM: As backgrounds and conditioning become a bit stronger, the Silver swimmers will continue to enhance their stroke and racing techniques for competition. While instruction will be the primary focus for this group, they will build upon their interval-training as the season progresses. Swimmers are encouraged to attend three to four practices per week.
GOLD 2: Swimmers here will begin their preparation for age-group training and competitions. Further stroke development and technique refinement will be fostered, while swimmers begin to learn the relation between practice performance and competitive achievement. Interval and endurance concepts as well as an introduction to low-level dry-land exercises will be key elements for swimmers to begin setting goals throughout the season. Swimmers are encouraged to attend four to five practices per week.
GOLD 1: Here, swimmers will build upon their training and goal setting to truly focus on competing within their respective age brackets. Both endurance sets and interval training will increase as dry-land exercises also intensify. As the season progresses, swimmers will work with their coaches as well as the others in the group to foster an attitude and atmosphere geared towards achievement. Swimmers are encouraged to attend five to six practices per week.
SENIOR TEAM: The highest level in the Middies program, seniors will be swimmers that have a high degree of commitment to practices as well as competitions. Daily training will call for a high level of intensity as faster intervals and more endurance sets are continually established in order to build towards optimal race results at select meets. Dry-land exercises will also be integral in building strength and enhancing performance. As the season progresses their will be larger demands upon swimmers and they will discuss with their coaches the practices expectations for each step of their training.
